Passport Applications:
Passport applications must be lodged in person during the Embassy’s opening hours, Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The following documentation must be submitted when applying for a passport:
- One completed passport application form. Forms are available at the Embassy.
- Old passport (if applicable).
- Passport photo (please see further information below).
- The applicant is requested to pay the passport fee upon application. Payment must be made in Singapore dollars or by cheque payable to the "Royal Norwegian Embassy". We regret to inform that there is no option of electronic payment. The passport fee (as of 07/04/10) is as follows:
For persons over 16 years: SGD 110
For persons under 16 years: SGD 70
Children under the age of 18 must in addition to the above supply the following:
Parents must accompany their children in order to sign the passport application form. In the event that only one parent can accompany the child, written consent, and identification of the other parent must be provided. This also applies if one of the parents is not a Norwegian citizen.
From the age of 10 the child is requested to sign the passport application. From 6th April onwards all passport applicants from 12 years old must also provide finger prints using the biometric machine at the embassy. For children under 6 years of age, it is recommended to bring passport pictures.
Passport issued to children under the age of 16 have the following validity:
- Two years validity for children under 5 years of age.
- Three years validity for children between the ages 5 to 10 years.
- Five years of validity for children aged 10 to 16 years.
Where to apply:
Norwegians residents in Singapore must apply in person through the Embassy.
Passport photo:
The passport photo is usually taken at the Embassy. However, we advise you to bring one passport photograph for children under six years old.
Please note: The passport photo must be in colour on a light background, taken from the front and not at an angle. The photo must be maximum 3 months old, 35-40 mm in width and professionally produced. Personally produced photos, e.g. digital, cannot be accepted. Headgear is not permitted provided it is not a religious necessity *). The mouth must be closed (no teeth showing) and eyeglasses or other forms of eyewear may not be worn **).
*) Provided it is not a religious necessity - in which case, a letter from religious leader must be enclosed. This is not applicable if religious headgear was worn in the applicant's previous passport photo.
**) Unless it is a medical necessity - in which case, a letter from your doctor must be enclosed.
Children under the age of 18 applying for their first Norwegian passport must in addition to the above supply the following:
- Birth certificate showing the names of both parents.
- Both parents' passports. This also applies if one of the parents is not Norwegian.
- Parents' marriage certificate, if applicable.
Collection of Norwegian passport:
Your new passport may be collected at the Embassy during opening hours (Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m). The new passport will normally be ready for collection 2-3 weeks after the application is lodged with the Embassy.
You may keep your existing passport until your new passport has been issued. When you collect your new passport, your old passport will be cancelled, however, any valid visas will be left intact. Remember to bring your old passport when collecting your new one.
Emergency passport
If necessary, you may obtain an emergency passport at the Embassy. Emergency passports are not machine-readable.
You will need to submit the same application form and documentation as for a normal passport application. In addition, please bring two passport photos as per instructions above.
