Centre of architecture and design

Norway’s capital is determined to establish itself as a destination for architecture and design. The Fjord City project – the redevelopment of Oslo’s harbour area, due for completion in 2020 will change the face of Oslo completely.

Nothing is more spectacular than walking along the roof of Oslo’s new Opera House. Taking its design cues from a giant glacier and the bridge of an avant-garde white ship – it is a truly spectacular sight. The new metal sculpture, ‘She lies’, in front of the Opera House is equally impressive.

The National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design is also well worth a visit, as is the Nobel Peace Prize Centre.

The great outdoors

Oslo and the surrounding region offer fantastic opportunities for outdoor activities such as cycling through the Hafjell Bike Park or walking in the picturesque Oslo forest.

A great place for all the family is the Hunderfossen Family Park in Lillehammer. The attractions are based on Norwegian culture and traditions and there are over 50 to choose from. Great fun!

Lillehammer, the historic town best known for holding the 1994 Winter Olympics is also well known for its cosy restaurants and famous Museum of Art.

Taking the train to Lillehammer is an unforgettable experience. You’ll travel in comfort and experience one of the oldest railway connections in Norway as it trails along the edge of lake Mjøsa.

A little more than 2 hours northwest from Oslo lies Norefjell – the view from Høgevarde, its highest point is breathtaking. The area is perfect for cycling, walking and horse riding.

Oslo Pass – the best way to discover Oslo

The easiest and most inexpensive way to experience Oslo! The Oslo Pass provides free travel on public transport, free admission to museums, free parking in municipal car parks, discounts on sight seeing, some restaurants and car hire.
