How will we power our future?

On 13 November the Norwegian Embassy hosted a course on Norwegian cakes. 22 participants from Singapore attended learning how to make the traditional Norwegian cake “Kransekake”.

“Only through a genuine, global partnership can the treasures of the world’s remaining tropical forests be saved for posterity”, stated the Government of Norway’s Special Envoy for International Climate Change Policy, Ambassador Hans Brattskar, during his keynote speech at the conference, Forests, Biodiversity and Climate Change in Southeast Asia.

After the terrible attack on Norway's democracy Friday 22th July, pupils at Crescent Girls’ School have expressed their feelings of compassion for Norway through drawings, greetings, and pictures collected in a giant scrap book.

Following Friday's horrific and tragic attacks on the government offices in Oslo and on the youth summer camp at Utøya, a book of condolences will be open for signing at the Norwegian Embassy in Singapore.

In celebration of International Friendship Day, Singapore Discovery Centre launched the “Home Away From Home” exhibition 8th April. The Royal Norwegian Embassy was given the privilege of introducing Norway to Singaporean school children.

Currently 32 students of 12 different nationalities are finishing their Executive MBA in Shipping, Offshore and Finance.

The Norwegian company REC today officially opened one of the world's largest integrated wafer, cell and module manufacturing facilities in Tuas, Singapore.

While in Singapore, Mr. Olav Akselsen and his delegation took the opportunity to visit with Singapore’s maritime authorities and with key actors in the maritime community. The visit reflects the strong ties and mutual interests of the maritime sectors of Norway and Singapore.

Along with representatives from fourteen other European countries plus the delegation of the European Commission, the Norwegian Embassy had put up shop at the Hilton on Saturday October 16. There we met up with Singaporean students who were curious about student life in Norway and the opportunities offered by Norwegian schools.

As a part of a roundtrip to Asia, the Committee stopped by Singapore on September 13th-15th after first having visited Beijing and Shanghai. The overall aim for this last part of their trip was to achieve greater insight into the role of Singapore as a regional investment hub and the exceptional opportunities and potential challenges this entails for Norwegian business interests.

A week into the Youth Olympic Games, which is the main happening in Singapore from August 14-26, the Norwegian YOG delegation made a visit to the Norwegian Seamen’s Mission on August 19.
