The baking course was jointly organised by the Norwegian Embassy and the Peoples’ Association, while volunteers from the Norwegian community were teaching the course.
Kransekake is a typical Norwegian cake that is enjoyed on special occasions like Christmas, the Norwegian National Day on the 17th May and for confirmation, a Norwegian ritual of youths entering adulthood.
The participants showed great interest in learning how to bake the cake itself and several participated in rolling out the dough. They were showed how to assemble the cake and got the opportunity to try for themselves, making it both educational and fun.
In addition to learning how to bake Kransekake, the attendees received goodie-bags with recipes on traditional Norwegian foods as well as some cake to enjoy at home.
Since the participants expressed such satisfaction with the baking course, it may be followed by additional baking courses.
