Increasing Student Exchange between Norway and Singapore

Last updated: 23/02/2011 // Currently 32 students of 12 different nationalities are finishing their Executive MBA in Shipping, Offshore and Finance.

The joint program offered by BI and NTU is a highly proactive initiative, recognizing a need for cross-cultural knowledge and understanding in the leaders of the future. The multicultural composition and varied background of the students attending this class certainly provides a unique environment to cultivate such skills. The program is structured into 6 modules of 14 days each, where 3 are held in Norway and 3 are held in Singapore. It is geared towards advanced practitioners within the shipping and offshore industry and for senior managers who want to understand the dynamics of this business.

This week the group gathered at the Norwegian Ambassador’s residence for a networking reception. Present were also faculty members and representatives from the Norwegian business community. Lively debates on maritime issues and energy could be heard across drinks and canapees.

The student exchange between Norway and Singapore has shown a strong and positive development and now includes BBA-programs, MBA and EMBA as well as shorter terms exchanges and visits. Several universities in both countries are engaged in the programs and they have shown considerable foresight and creativity in establishing degree programs creating new career opportunities for interested students in both Norway, Singapore and several other countries.
