Norwegian Seafood Dinner 2010

19/03/2010 // On Friday 5th March the Royal Norwegian Embassy and Norwegian Business Association (Singapore) – NBAS co hosted the annual Norwegian Seafood Dinner at the Raffles Ballroom.

The event saw nearly 1000 guests from the Norwegian business community and their invited guests sit down for a sumptuous seafood buffet.  The seafood on offer was specially flown in from Norway and skillfully prepared by Singaporean and Norwegian master chefs.   Chef Geir Skeie, winner of the 2008 Bocuse d’Or, served an exquisite white halibut fricassee and a salmon ‘gravlax’ potato omelette on salty rye bread.

The unique foursome of Norwegian chefs that make up the Flying Culinary Circus provided a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach with their ice cream made with fresh fruit and liquid nitrogen ("the world's freshest ice cream bar").

Singaporean Chef William Tan, winner of the Bocuse d'Or Singapore Asian Selection 2010, and Celebrity Chef Sam Leong delighted with arctic seafood such as Norwegian king crab and steamed cod with an Asian twist.  There were almost 100 different dishes on offer.

This year, guests were also treated to a special pre-dinner concert by Singaporean jazz legend Jeremy Monteiro and visiting Norwegian jazz saxophonist Bodil Niska which set the tone for the evening.

The 2010 Seafood Dinner also offered a new surprise, the NBAS Award.  The award is presented to an individual or company who has distinguished themselves and demonstrated a significant commitment to enhancing the business relations between Norway and Singapore. The first ever NBAS Award was presented to Mr Choo Chiau Beng, CEO of Keppel Corp by the Minister of Trade & Industry of Norway Mr Trond Giske.
