On Friday the 26st of August around 1300 secondary students gathered at a morning assembly to express their feelings of compassion for Norwegian citizens and their loved ones. The principle Mrs Eugenia Lim emphasized that even though the girls are young they can still make a difference to people in need through kindness.
A young student speaking on behalf of the school described the effort the students have put into creating the book, their warm thoughts behind it and how Singaporeans would like to lend their support to the Norwegians.
Norway’s appreciation of such kind and loving gestures was underlined by Deputy Head of Mission Ms Thea Martine Ottmann who was invited to collect the scrap-book and to tell the girls about the attacks and how it affected Norway. Ms Ottmann emphasized that Norwegians will not let fear and panic change their policies or the nature of the democracy. Norway will rise to the occasion and become more open, more democratic, more tolerant, and above all; more loving. Ms. Ottmann conveyed gratitude and a heartfelt thank you on behalf of the Norwegian Government and fellow Norwegians, receiving a cheerful applause.
