Visa and permits to Norway

Information about visa or permits to Norway?                                                                                                    

The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) has issued a set of fact sheets that will help you out.

The fact sheets are published in several languages and cover the following areas:

  • visa
     – gives the holder permission to travel to Norway and the Schengen area for up to three months
  • work permit
     – entitles the holder to work in Norway. Different rules apply to nationals of different countries and to with people with different occupations
  • asylum
    – a person may have a right to asylum in Norway if he or she has a well-founded fear of persecution in his or her country of origin
  • settlement permit
     – entitles the holder to live and work in Norway permanently.
  • family reunification
    - means that a family member living abroad is allowed to come to Norway to live with one or more family members who already live here or intend to live here permanently
  • citizenship
     – affiliation with a state with rights and responsibilities vis-à-vis that state
  • residence permits for students
    – a foreign national who wishes to study in Norway may be granted a residence permit for this purpose

APPLY FOR VISA IN SINGAPORE: The Royal Danish Embassy is handling all VISA applications to Norway. They also handle resident- and work permits for Norway.

Visa applications forms (Form J) can be downloaded from http://www.udlst.dk/english/Visa/Forms/Default.htm
Opening hours at the visa section at the Danish Embassy is from 09:00 a.m. to 12.00 (noon). Monday - Thursday and 14:00 to 16:00 on Friday, Saturday closed.

The visa fee is for the time being 127 S$ payable in Singapore Dollar by submission in cash or by check. They do not accept credit cards.

Processing time varies. Visa's which can be handled bona fide will be processed within max 3 working days. Visa applications which can’t be handled locally (some nationalities will have to be presented for one or more Schengen countries in an electronic consultation). These applications will normally be processed within 12 working days. In some rare cases, processing time will be longer.
